Tutorial: 5 Easy-Peasy Glitter Nail Art Designs

        Love nail art, but need something simple to do? Here are 5 simple nail designs you can do using black and glitter nail polish.  

 

In this look I used Claire's Glitter Top Coat and a shiny black polish that came in a kit from Urban Outfitters.

1) Sparkly Glitter French

• Starting with the black nail polish, hold the brush sideways and draw a horizontal  line across the tip.
• Dot along the bottom of the line with glitter nail polish.
• Paint the nail from the base to the dots with the glitter nail polish.
• Reapply the black tip to make the nail look leveled.
• Seal with a shiny top coat.

2) Glitter Gradient Tip

• Paint entire nail with black polish.
• Apply a thick coat of glitter polish at the tip of nail in half moon shape.
• Using a thinner coat of glitter polish from the middle of nail to the tip.
• Using a very thin coat of glitter polish lightly apply from base of nail to tip.
• Seal with shimmery top coat.

3) Diagonal Glitter Stripes  

• Paint entire nail with glitter nail polish.
• Wipe brush against inner rim of black polish bottle to make the brush very flat.
• Use thin edge of nail polish brush to draw a diagonal stripe in top right corner of nail.
• Repeat 2nd and 3rd steps leaving space between each stripe for glitter to show through.
• Seal with clear top coat.

4) Glitter Flower Power

• Paint entire nail with black nail polish.
• Swirl brush around inner rim of glitter polish bottle to get rid of all excess polish, except at tip.
• Allow excess polish to fall off tip of brush in a dot shape to make the top petal.
• Repeat 2nd and 3rd steps to add the other four petals. 
• Allow petals to thoroughly dry and add a drop of dark jewel-toned color to center of flower.
• Seal with clear top coat.

5) Single Glittered Side Stripe 

• Paint entire nail with black nail polish.
• Apply glitter polish brush to side of nail and paint in vertical motion.
• Reapply glitter until stripe sharply contrasts nail.
• Seal with shiny top coat.
